BEC Preliminary Writing Task Part Two Sample Answer
Dear Mr Tellis
I would like to thank you on behalf of everyone at Acme Technology for this award. I will be happy to attend the ceremony. Would it be possible for some of our staff to also attend?
Regarding a short talk, I would be happy to oblige and suggest the theme of creative entrepreneurs, the foundation concept of our business.
If you could provide a projector suitable for connection to a laptop for the talk, it would be extremely helpful.
Yours sincerely
Frank Durham
Managing Director
5 tips for writing a business thank you letter or email?
1. The words "thanks" and "gratitude" should appear at least once in the letter.
2. Make sure all contact information and company name is correct as well as any industry-specific terms that may have been used during your correspondence or interactions with the person you are writing to (e.g., transaction, an event attended)
3. Include an outline of dates, locations, and activities shared while you were in contact with this person for context
4. Keep it short! Remember that people have already invested time into knowing who you are, so a few sentences are all it needs to be a successful thank-you letter or e-mail
5. Avoid copying/pasting previous correspondence between the two of you.
